docAs I was reviewing my Facebook timeline this morning, I came upon an interesting article about heart disease and its cause. World renowned heart surgeon, Dr. Dwight Lundell is past chief of staff and Chief of Surgery at Banner Heart Hospital out of Mesa, AZ. He recently left surgery to focus on treatment of heart disease through nutrition.

I can honestly say I was blown away by what Dr. Lundell had to say. “The discovery a few years ago that inflammation in the artery wall is the real cause of heart disease is slowly leading to a paradigm shift in how heart disease and other chronic ailments will be treated.” He goes on to say that “Despite the fact that 25% of the population takes expensive statin medications and despite the fact we have reduced the fat content of our diets, more Americans will die this year of heart disease than ever before”. That is truly a sobering thought and one that bears serious reflection.

For a world renowned heart surgeon to speak out on this matter, is impressive. I give Dr. Dwight Lundell credit for sharing this vital information. In fact, I will be sure to order his new book, The Cure for Heart Disease: Truth Will Save a Nation as I am sure there is much more information that what was in the short article I read.

Here is something Dr. Lundell said that caught my attention, “There is no escaping the fact that the more we consume prepared and processed foods, the more we trip the inflammation switch little by little each day. The human body cannot process, nor was it designed to consume, foods packed with sugars and soaked in omega-6 oils.”  Wow, if you ever questioned the value of home cooking, there it is!

As someone dealing with a chronic condition for years, I have tried to make changes to howme2 we eat, including avoiding processed foods and soda.   A little over 3 years ago we incorporated XO Healthy Chocolate into our diet.  Unlike traditional chocolate, this patented cold pressed method keeps in the antioxidants making it a high antioxidant superfood. Since antioxidants reduce inflammation, I wanted to make sure my family was receiving enough of them.  Just three little power squares sweetened with acai and blueberry offer a total ORACfn score of 49,464 and 1,740 mg Flavonoids, the antioxidant value of 8-10 servings of fruits and vegetables.  (As verified by Brunswick Labs.)  Even better, these are just 33 calories a piece.

I am Lynette Henk, I get my antioxidants in chocolate and help others do the same.  I can be reached at 941-216-5727, at [email protected] and at ColdPressedChocolate.com.
