Gluten Free Diet Plans have become mainstream as individuals realize they have a sensitivity to gluten,  have MTHFR gene defects or have celiac disease.   According to the Los Angeles Times, ” Gluten is a protein that is found in certain grains, including wheat, barley and rye and triticale (a cross between wheat and rye).”

There are many reasons people avoid gluten.  Individuals that have the MTHFR genetic defect a1298c or c677t may have a problem processing the folate in the gluten.  The Los Angeles Times article What Is Gluten explains, “Gluten causes inflammation of the small intestine in people with celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disease diagnosed with a blood test or biopsy; other symptoms include digestive problems, anemia, fatigue, headaches and joint pain. Avoiding gluten is the treatment, though there is no cure.”

More and more gluten free options are available in specialty and grocery stores.  I find it can be difficult to find good and affordable foods that are gluten free.  Every morning I have the XO X-meal replacement wellness shake for breakfast.  This Fearless28 diet shake is gluten free and dairy free as well.  I also enjoy XO Healthy Chocolate Nuggets, Xobiotics and power squares which are also gluten and dairy free.  I love this low calorie option as the XO power squares are just 3 calories each!  I also like these because they are high antioxidant and flavonoid rich.  I fell in love with them so much I became a member to share the products and to get my products for free.
