Celebrate our Independence! Why is Independence Day called the 4th of July?

disq1In the United States, Independence Day always falls on the 4th of July.  It is for this reason that many routinely call Independence Day the 4th of July.  However it is important to note the importance of the day that is celebrated with fireworks, parades and parties.  The Declaration of Independence was drafted by Thomas Jefferson between June 11th and June 28th in the year 1776.  According to the Archives.gov Charters of Freedom site, “the Declaration of Independence is at once the nation’s most cherished symbol of liberty and Jefferson’s most enduring monument. Here, in exalted and unforgettable phrases, Jefferson expressed the convictions in the minds and hearts of the American people.”

The Declaration of Independence is what makes the United States free.  Celebrate the day lynetteweightlossand what it means for us all.  Happy Independence Day!!
